First-day-screening event of new movie "DESTINY Kamakura Monogatari"

The first-day-screening event of new movie "DESTINY Kamakura Monogatari" was held at TOHO Cinemas Nichigeki 1 on 9 December which was attended by the director Yamazaki Takashi and cast members Sakai Masato, Takahata Mitsuki, Tsutsumi Shinichi, Ando Sakura, Tanaka Min and Nakamura Tamao. The film which is based on the manga "Kamakura Monogatari" by Saigan Ryohei, features Sakai in the role of Isshiki Masakazu who is a 35-year-old mystery novel writer living in Kamakura and likes to wear traditional Japanese clothing. He also has varied interests such as collecting railway models, plastic models and antiques, criminology research and investigation of supernatural phenomenon. Isshiki lives with his newly-married wife Akiko (Takahata) who is only 23-years-old. One day, Isshiki is approached to investigate a murder case involving a rich man which is suspected to be due to supernatural forces. At the same time, Akiko who is a newcomer to Kamakura, realises that the place is full of supernatural beings even though this is seen as perfectly normal to the locals.

Sakai thanked the full-house audience for their warm applause and said that he was very touched. He also praised his co-star Takahata for being a wonderful actress and felt as if it was destiny that he met a reliable comrade who he would like to work with again in future. Takahata then echoed his view with a smile upon hearing this. However, she also revealed that she was very nervous during the filming and became rather expressionless but Sakai was very encouraging. Just as how the director and Tsutsumi teased her for looking like a child in her shichi-go-san kimono, Sakai kept praising her for looking beautiful so Takahata felt that Sakai is like her sole ally.

When asked about the highlights of the movie, Ando who plays the Death God, cited the ending credits where her character was doing actions which she did not remember doing. Yamazaki revealed that it was all done by CG while Sakai reminded her that the entire cast went through a full body scan for the CG during their filming breaks. Yamazaki then joked that since they already have the statistics for the cast members, they can do a sequel using full CG without doing the actual filming.
